WHY B I C S ?
One of the largest vocational training centers in the country, Bahrain Training Institute (BTI) operates under the Ministry of Education, working towards developing the skills of the national workforce striving to continuously research and enhance the quality of training delivery in shaping trainees in accordance with the current and future demands of the globalized 21st century industry. The Business Department being the largest division within the Institution contributes to achieving this vision through the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of faculty members within the department. As the next step in achieving this CPD objective, the Business Department is initiating a faculty development program that would be a forum for the research needs of all trainers across divisions. This is an appropriate step targeted at satisfying the demand of businesses that seek to recruit their trainees.
BICS (Business Intellectual Capital Sharing) was introduced in 2014 as a forum where faculty members research and share the latest updates in the industry to enable their personal professional development so as to support each other in research studies thereby improving the overall quality of training programs. Several events were successfully organized under the BICS banner including debates, lectures/discussion and guest speakers on research at the departmental level. As part of its evolution to the next level, this symposium seeks to include trainers and technicians across all divisions within the organisation to research, develop and share knowledge.
Objectives of BICS events
The events organized under the banner of BICS (Business Intellectual Capital Sharing) seek to:
-
Equip the trainers in designing more effective lessons so as to allow trainees to imbibe and comprehend knowledge and skills that is updated and emerging in their respective fields of specialization.
-
Bring together trainers of BTI to offer networking opportunities and share their knowledge, ideas and thoughts.
-
Become a platform for the participants to explore and research the opportunities and strengths related to the emerging issues in the industry across a wide spectrum of disciplines including Business, Engineering & Technology, Communication and Arts & Design.
-
Identify potential solutions along the entire process of delivering training for the 21st century trainee.
